The essentials for starting the new school year with a renewed bed.

Hirune (昼審) is, in Japanese, the midday nap. A set designed for those who need a new bed and want the simplest and most affordable option in the range.

Who it is for

  • Those replacing an old mattress on a tight budget
  • A first bedroom, a student room or a spare bed
  • Those who prefer a thin mattress, easy to carry and to move house with
  • Slatted bed frames where a tall mattress does not fit well

What it includes

Hirune Mattress — high-resilience foam mattress, 12 cm high and medium firmness, for balanced support. Made in Portugal, with breathable fabric and antibacterial and anti-mite treatment.

Tsuwano Mattress Protector — adds a layer of protection to the mattress and, thanks to its terry fabric, a softer feel. It is breathable, anti-mite and waterproof.

Kanjiru White Sheets — a 100% cotton set, 300 thread count sateen, with a soft hand and a discreet sheen. Includes fitted sheet, top sheet and pillowcase(s). Made in Portugal.

Frequently asked questions

Hirune or Manabi?
This is the comparison we are asked most. Hirune has 12 cm of high-resilience foam in a single layer; Manabi has 23 cm in three layers and also includes a Nobi pillow and percale sheets. Hirune covers the school year; Manabi covers the degree.

Is a 12 cm mattress enough?
For light to medium weight and student use, yes. Above 90 kg, or for side sleepers with broad shoulders, we recommend the 23 cm of the Manabi or a mattress from the main range.

Does it work on a slatted bed base?
Yes. At 12 cm, Hirune is among those that fit best on low beds and bunk beds, where a tall mattress sits above the safety rail.

Which sizes are available?
190x90 and 200x90 for single beds, 190x140 and 200x160 for double beds.

What is the warranty?
10 years on the Hirune mattress, 3 years on the protector and the sheets. The mattress has 100 nights of home trial, with free returns.

Which of the four student packs?

The first question is whether the room's mattress is up to it. There is also the Shūchū, from €179, for when the mattress is acceptable but hard or tired.

Before you decide

Measure the room's bed, not the one at home.

Student rooms have beds of varying sizes, and 190x90 and 200x90 are not the same. Ask for the base's size before ordering — it is the most common mistake in this purchase.

If the mattress there is acceptable but hard, the Shūchū adds a topper instead of a new mattress, from €179.
