Mindol Mattress Alternative: Factual Comparison (2026)
Partilhar
This comparison is different from the others I've written. With Mindol I can't use the origin argument — both brands manufacture in Portugal. So I compare what really sets them apart: the sales model, how you choose, the available sizes, the home trial and the warranty.
Who is Mindol
Mindol was founded in 1973, in Vale de Cambra. It began producing metal beds and, over the decades, expanded its activity to mattresses, bed frames, mattress toppers, pillows and other upholstered products. Today it has several production units and warehouses and is present in the domestic and European markets.
It's a brand with history and its own factory in Portugal. I say this plainly because it's true, and because I don't need to put anyone down to help you choose.
Where the difference really lies
Mindol sells mainly through retailers and partner stores. Dreamura sells directly, without intermediaries, with its own store in Algés and shipping across mainland Portugal.
This has three practical consequences for you:
- Price. Without a retail margin, the same level of materials costs you less. Or, put the other way: for the same price, you get more material.
- Who advises you. In a multi-brand store you talk to someone who represents several brands. Here you talk to me, and I know all 11 mattresses inside out, with a name, phone number and page of my own.
- Return policy. When you buy from a retailer, the policy that applies is theirs, not the manufacturer's. Buying direct, there's only one policy, and it's ours.
I wrote about this mechanics in direct-sale mattress.
Made-to-measure sizes: where Mindol has the advantage
One point where I'll be honest with you: Mindol works with made-to-order production, with mattresses that can be made in practically any size. If you have an old bed with an irregular size, an attic room, or a boat, that's a real advantage and I won't pretend otherwise.
Dreamura works with standard Portuguese sizes — 90×190, 90×200, 135×190, 140×190, 150×200, 160×200, 180×200 and similar. If your bed is one of these, you don't need a special size. If it isn't, tell me before you buy and I'll tell you honestly whether we can serve you. You'll find the full table at mattress sizes in Portugal.
Range and how to choose
Dreamura has 11 adult mattresses. It's not an extensive catalogue on purpose: each model exists for a specific sleep profile, instead of having ten variations of the same mattress at different prices.
- Takumi (匠, master craftsman) — pocket springs, memory foam and high-resilience foam. 26 cm, medium firmness. The best seller, and the one I usually suggest to couples with different profiles.
- Hisui (翡翠, jade) — high-resilience foam with memory foam, no springs. 26 cm, firm. For lower back pain and for back sleepers.
- Mizu (水, water) — springs and high-resilience foam. 23 cm, high firmness, good ventilation.
- Sora (空, sky) — springs and high-resilience foam, medium firmness. For side sleepers.
- Kumo (雲, cloud) — high-resilience foam, 20 cm. Entry point, first home, short-term rentals.

What to compare between two Portuguese brands
When both brands manufacture here, origin stops being a criterion. What matters instead is this:
- Foam density in kg/m³. Below 30 kg/m³ the foam loses its shape faster. Ask for the number, not the adjective.
- Type and number of springs. Pocket springs work independently; bonnell springs work as a block and transmit more movement.
- Total height. 26 cm allows room for more functional layers than 18 cm.
- Years of warranty and sagging clause. Almost all brands define a tolerance (typically 2 to 3 cm) below which there is no claim.
- Fabric and foam certifications, such as Oeko-Tex.
Home trial and warranty
Five minutes lying down in a store won't tell you whether you'll sleep well. The body takes 14 to 21 nights to adapt to a new surface, and it's normal for the first few nights to feel strange even when the choice is right.
Dreamura offers a 100-night trial at home and free returns if it doesn't work out. For purchases made at multi-brand stores, confirm in writing what the return period is and who covers it.
On warranty: Dreamura mattresses have 10 years; bed bases and headboards have 3. Always confirm the terms in force for each brand, because they change over time and by model.
Questions I get asked
Is Mindol Portuguese? Yes. Founded in 1973, in Vale de Cambra, with its own production in Portugal.
So why choose Dreamura? For direct sale, the 100-night trial, the 10-year warranty on the mattress, and for having one specific person guiding you. If what you need is an irregular size, be practical and choose whoever can make it.
Can I try it first? You can, at the store on Av. das Túlipas 23, in Algés. Or you can buy online and test it for 100 nights at home, which is the trial that counts.
How long does delivery take? 5 business days, free in mainland Portugal.
"Between two brands that manufacture in Portugal, the criterion stops being the flag. It's foam density, years of warranty, and who answers the phone when something goes wrong." — Ana Cristina, Sleep Advisor
How to decide
Start with the position you sleep in and your weight — those two facts decide the right firmness, and firmness decides comfort. Only then compare materials. Price last.
