Colunex is one of the oldest and best-positioned sleep brands in the country. If you are comparing it with Dreamura, this article gives you the numbers on both sides — starting with what Colunex has and we do not.

I will start with what Colunex has and we do not
It is the honest part and it is usually what decides the choice.
- Forty years in the business. Colunex has existed since 1986, is 100% Portuguese and is headquartered in Porto. Dreamura is a new brand. If the brand's track record weighs on your decision, that point goes to them.
- Materials we do not have. The Colunex range includes latex (the Breeze line) and its own eco foam, Xenuloc®. Dreamura has no latex mattress. If latex is what you are looking for, we are not an alternative — we are something else.
- Made-to-measure beds and customisation. Colunex works with made-to-measure sizes and finishes, with a choice of fabrics and coverings. We work with catalogue sizes.
- Store network and luxury hospitality. They have stores across the country, including one in the Algarve, and they equip high-end hotels. Dreamura has one store, in Algés.

The point that makes the most difference to me: the 30 nights with the plastic
Colunex advertises a 30-night trial, but with one condition: the mattress has to keep the plastic wrapping on. In practice, that means sleeping on top of the plastic during the trial period — and a wrapped mattress does not breathe, does not regulate temperature and does not feel the way it will feel later. It is not a test of the mattress, it is a test of the firmness through a layer that will not be there.
I say this without irony: the condition is understandable from the seller's side, because it protects the product for resale. But from the buyer's side, it takes away from the trial almost everything the trial is there to do.
At Dreamura it is 100 nights, with the mattress unwrapped and used as a mattress. If at the end of that time you do not adapt, the return is free of charge. And 100 nights is not a marketing number: perceived firmness changes after two to three weeks, because the body comes used to the previous mattress. Thirty nights with plastic are not enough to get through that adaptation.
Price: these are two different levels
The most affordable Colunex mattress starts at 605 € in 80x190, and the brand's best-seller, the Revolution, starts at 1.747 €. The Dreamura range goes from 115 € to 999 €.
It is not the same shelf, and I will not pretend it is. The difference is largely explained by the sales model: a brand with a network of physical stores, a showroom, appointments and made-to-measure beds carries costs that a direct seller does not have. That does not make either of the two better — it makes them answers to different budgets.
The calculation I usually suggest is a different one: divide the price by the years of use. A mattress lasts, with daily use, between 8 and 10 years before it starts to lose support. That is the honest denominator.
Warranty: check, because the sources differ
Here I prefer not to give you a number I cannot confirm. On the public Colunex pages there are different references to the warranty depending on the source and the product — there are mentions of a 2-year manufacturer's warranty and there are mentions of 10 years on the mattresses. This is information to request directly from the brand, in writing, before buying, and it is worth looking at in detail: what matters is not only the number of years, it is what the warranty covers — above all sagging, which is the real defect of a mattress after years of use, and from what depth it counts.

If the choice comes down to construction
In a support mattress, what matters is the combination of layers. Pocket springs give point-by-point support and ventilation; memory foam relieves pressure on shoulders and hips.
