Suzu is the soft chime — rest for the first sleeps.

Suzu (鈴) is Japanese for "bell" or "little bell" — the light sound that follows a child. It was designed to see a baby through from birth to the move into a bigger bed.

It is slightly taller and fuller than Kotone — 11 cm of foam with medium firmness. It keeps the soft fabric texture and the breathability we recommend for babies.

Frequently asked questions

Suzu or Kotone — which one?
If budget comes first, Kotone. If you want it to last until the move to a bigger bed, Suzu (3 cm thicker, more hard-wearing).

Is it too firm?
No. Medium firmness is the recommended standard for safe infant sleep. Very soft mattresses increase the risk.

Can it be washed?
The outer fabric is not removable. Always use a washable mattress protector (we recommend the Tsuwano for babies).

Does it have certifications?
Yes. The fabrics are certified to OEKO-TEX Standard 100 — tested for substances harmful to a baby's skin. The foam has a density of ≥23 kg/m³, firm and stable as recommended for safe infant sleep.

Suzu (鈴) is the small bell.

Construction

Suzu (鈴) is the small bell.

Three centimetres more than the Kotone. That is what separates a mattress that lasts two years from one that lasts three.

  1. 1

    OEKO-TEX certified fabric

Standard 100 — tested for harmful substances. Antibacterial and anti-dust-mite.

  2. 2

    High-resilience foam

Density of 23 kg/m³ or higher. Keeps the surface stable instead of giving way.

  3. 3

    11 cm high

More thickness means more time before the foam shows signs of use.

  4. 4

    Temperature regulation

The fabric breathes. Avoiding overheating is part of safe sleep guidance.

Guide: baby sleep

Safe sleep

The right size matters more than the price.

The mattress should fit the cot with no gap between it and the bars. Measure the inside of the cot before choosing — a two-finger gap is already too much.

Safe sleep guidance also includes placing the baby on their back, on a firm flat surface, with no pillows, padded cot bumpers or soft objects in the cot. For questions about your own situation, speak to your paediatrician.

  • Measure the inside of the cotNot the outer dimensions of the bed. The mattress has to match the interior, with no side gaps.
  • Always use a waterproof protectorThe outer fabric is not removable. The protector is what gets washed.
  • 3-year warranty, 100-night trialMade in Portugal, with OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified fabrics.

Frequently asked questions

Suzu or Kotone?

If budget is the priority, Kotone. If you want it to last until the move to a larger bed, Suzu — it has 3 cm more and stands up to use better.

Can I wash the mattress?

The outer fabric is not removable. Always use a washable protector.

Can I use it from the first days?

Yes. Check that the size matches the inside of the cot exactly, with no gaps.

What certifications does it have?

The fabrics carry OEKO-TEX Standard 100. The foam has a density of 23 kg/m³ or higher.

Can it be rotated?

Yes. Rotating it periodically spreads the wear.
