What does this pack include?

Himeji bed base in white and a 12 cm Hirune mattress, in size 190x140. Headboard and bedding not included.

Is a 12 cm mattress enough?

For seasonal use, yes — a student's room, a holiday home, guests. For an everyday bed over the long term, mattresses of 20 cm or more are the right choice.

What does Hirune mean?

Hirune (昼寝) is the Japanese word for nap. The name tells you the use the mattress was designed for.

Does the base have storage?

No. The Himeji is a medium-profile base with 16 cm legs, no storage box.

Are the warranties the same on both pieces?

No: 10 years on the mattress and 3 years on the base.

Is there a version without a base?

Yes. The Hirune Student pack has the same mattress with a Tsuwano protector and Kanjiru sheets, no base, from €169 and in more sizes.

This pack or one of the student packs?

The same Hirune mattress appears in more than one set. The question is whether you need the base.

Before you decide

Twelve centimetres are for seasonal use, not ten years of nights.

The Hirune works well for a room used part of the year. If this is going to be your everyday bed, it is worth going taller — the Kumo is 20 cm and the pack with the Tapi Kobe base starts at €379.

If in doubt, Ana Cristina asks how many nights a year the bed will be used and by whom, and tells you which one makes sense.
