The criteria that DECO Proteste and safe-sleep guidance cite for a baby mattress are four, and this set meets them:
Density ≥23 kg/m³ — density tells you the mattress's future; firmness tells you its present. Below this value the foam gives way over time.
Medium firmness — a baby mattress should be firm, to reduce the risk of suffocation.
OEKO-TEX Standard 100 — mattress and textiles tested for harmful substances.
A snug fit — the mattress should fill the cot, leaving at most two fingers of gap on each side.

Suzu and Nekasu are the two baby levels. The difference is the cot: Suzu is for those who already have one, Nekasu includes it.

Frequently asked questions
Which cot size does it fit? 120×60 cm, the common size in Portugal. Measure the inside of the cot before ordering.
How much gap can there be between the mattress and the cot? At most two fingers on each side. More than that leaves space where a child could get trapped.
Is the cover removable? No. The Suzu cover doesn't come off — which is why the mattress pad in the Beppu set is the piece that gets washed, and a waterproof protector over the mattress is recommended.
Why does density matter more than firmness? Because firmness is what you feel on the day it arrives, and density is what remains two years later. Low-density foam softens and creates a dip where the child sleeps.
Why is the warranty 3 years and not 10? Dreamura adult mattresses carry a 10-year warranty; baby mattresses carry 3. It's a product with a different life cycle — used through the early years and then replaced by a bed.

Measure the inside of the cot before buying the mattress.
The mattress has to fit snugly against the cot bars. A two-finger gap is already too much — that is the rule used to check it.
Safe sleep guidance also includes laying the baby on their back, on a firm, flat surface, without pillows, padded bumpers or soft objects in the cot in the early months. The pieces in this set are intended for the stage when the child can already use them. If in doubt about your case, speak to your paediatrician.
