What is the tufted finish?

It's upholstery pulled taut at regular points, forming a raised diamond pattern. It's not a printed pattern — each point is fixed to the frame behind it, which holds the filling in place and stops it shifting over the years.

Is the frame solid wood?

Yes, and on a tufted piece that matters even more: each point of the upholstery is fixed to the frame, and particleboard crumbles where the staple goes in.

Which width should I choose?

The mattress width: 90, 140, 160 or 180 cm. Not the base's, which can be slightly wider.

Is it more work to clean?

A little. Dust builds up in the tufted recesses — vacuuming with a soft brush takes care of it.

What's the difference from the Toyama?

The design. Both are 120 cm high, but the Nagano is tufted and the Toyama has an inverted U shape. The frame and widths are the same.

A hundred and twenty centimetres calls for wall space.

A tall headboard changes the proportion of the room, for the better — but it needs clear wall above the bed. Measure the height available up to the window, a picture frame or a sloped ceiling before ordering.
