É possível manter a rotina de sono das crianças durante as férias?

Is it possible to maintain children's sleep routine during the holidays?

Holidays mean longer days, changed schedules and often completely disrupted sleep routines. For little ones, this freedom has its charm but it can also have an impact on their rest.

The truth is that children’s sleep doesn’t take a vacation. Even if the days are different, their bodies and minds still need regular breaks and an environment that provides security. The challenge? Finding a balance between the lightness of the vacation and the necessary structure so that rest is not forgotten.

It’s not about following school schedules to the letter. It’s about creating a new rhythm, more flexible but still consistent. An end-of-day ritual, even during the holidays, helps children recognize that it’s time to slow down: a longer bath, a calm story, lowering the lights. These are small signals that help the body switch off.

Another essential point is the space where you sleep. If you are away from home, try to recreate some elements of your usual bedroom: a familiar pillow, the same stuffed animal, the same smell of your usual sheets. These details, as simple as they may seem, provide comfort and predictability, two essential ingredients for sleep to happen naturally.

And, of course, there are days when everything goes wrong. But that's part of summer. The important thing is to return with ease, give yourself time to adapt and trust that rest will always find its own rhythm.
